Bob Garvey is a trial lawyer with more than three decades of experience representing clients in serious injury and wrongful death cases. His practice is selective and referral based. His clients come to him by referral from other lawyers, judges and former clients. Mr. Garvey’s efforts on behalf of clients have resulted in record verdicts in Palm Beach County Florida and St Clair County Michigan.
Mr. Garvey is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. “The American College of Trial Lawyers is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada and is widely considered to be the premier professional trial organization in America”. He currently serves on the State Committee of ACTL.
Mr Garvey is a past President of the Michigan Chapter of the American Board Trial Advocates where he served as National Board Representative. In 2011 ABOTA recognized Mr Garvey by awarding the Richard Baxter Trial Lawyer of the Year award. Only six lawyers have received this award since it was first given out in 1988. Both ACTL and ABOTA are national, honorary trial lawyer organizations. Members are invited to join after meeting rigorous criteria including successful and significant jury trial experience, adherence to ethical standards and collegiality.
From 2010 to 2012 he served on the Michigan Judicial Selection Task Force. The task force was a bipartisan effort that studied and made recommendations aimed at improving the elective process for Michigan Supreme Court Justices. He also serves on the boards of the Warm Hearts Foundation and the Opening Village Doors Foundation. His past board experience includes The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, University Liggett School, Michigan Trial Lawyers Association and The Michigan Environmental Council.
